Kathmandu ‘World Ready’ Mini-Doco

By October 22, 2018August 1st, 20202 Comments

We’re lucky to have some great sponsors on board with our Alaska to Argentina adventure – companies who have gone the extra mile to make sure we have the gear we need at the time we need it. It’s been amazing to have this level of support. But when Kathmandu sends out a film crew to tag along for a few days and tell your story, that’s next level.

We’re very proud to have been selected as part of Kathmandu’s World Ready campaign, and you can check out the 6 minute mini-doco about our adventure and project below.

The footage was mostly shot on Peru’s Great Divide route, by director/editor Jason Larraman (Man In Your Head) and with still imagery by Benemac.

    Hi Mark and Hana,
My partner and I are heading to South America next year for 6 months or so of riding. climbing walking. Wondering if you have had the need to post gear across borders and if the outcome has been a success. Thinking – a food cache – gear parcel. A small carton.. Particularly into Huaraz Peru and then another into Fiambala Argentina to enable an extended walk climb in that area.

Continuing to enjoy the posts and journal. Must of have been fantastic to have been able to share the latest part of the journey with good friends.

    Cheers
    Simon

      Hi Simon,

Yes we have shipped stuff around a lot. Courier services here are reliable and cheap. I wouldn’t rely on postal services. Cross-border can be tricker, best avoided, but it can usually be done. We usually try and send stuff in-country. We sent a box from Mexico to Huaraz, Peru no problems. And also city-to-city in Peru. Receiving parcels in Peru (bike parts etc) has been ok. You have to pay duty (usually via bank deposit) and sometimes you have to contact the courier to get all the details, as they don’t contact you. We have not tried into Bolivia or Argentina.

Yes it was awesome to have company for the last section! Good luck with your trip planning.
