Prior to seeing Mexico City for myself stereotypes I held surrounding this megalopolis (perhaps like many people) were formed by scenes from the films like Los Olvidados, Baraka and Amores Perros. Tales of pollution, corruption, crime and crowds were all I’d heard. No doubt these stories reflect life in some parts of Mexico city accurately, but what we found was a city comparable to the great European cities in its architecture and charm and a place that was civilised, efficient and fun to explore.
We left our camper on the fringe of the city at Teotihuacan, an ancient Aztec site, and caught the bus in for 6 days, staying at a hostel in the Zona Rosa and spending our days and nights checking out the city. Following is a collection of photos from our stay.
