About Highlux

Highlux is Mark Watson, a New Zealand based freelance photographer and graphic designer. I’m currently settling back into Lyttelton, New Zealand after a nearly three year hiatus that involved 14 months road tripping and adventuring around North America, 8 months working the UK and then 8 months cycling 13,000 km from Chengdu, China to Jakarta, Indonesia.

I photograph travel, adventure, lifestyle, landscape and people connecting with the outdoors.

Back in New Zealand I normally live in Lyttelton, along with four chickens and a black cat. I spent the better part of the last decade working for the New Zealand Alpine Club, as editor of  The Climber magazine, New Zealand Alpine Journal, and directing the publishing and design for numerous guidebooks.

Some of my work is represented by Getty Images and Hedgehog House, a NZ photo library, and has been widely published in photo books, magazines, catalogues, calendars and guidebooks.
